The IWT-5000A impulse winding tester is a coil testing instrument (transformer, inductor or motor) and ideal for testing the self-insulating property of the coil. The influences of winding materials, magnetic materials, framework and manufacturing can decrease the insulating properties of a coil.

The instrument stores a waveform of a sample coil and by comparing the waverform of the coil under test, defective devices can be found easily.
