MII Interface

The Media Independent Interface is a standard interface used to connect a Fast Ethernet (i.e. 100 Mbit/s) MAC-block to a PHY chip. The MII may be used to connect the MAC to an external PHY via a pluggable connector (see photo), or to connect a MAC chip to a PHY chip on the same printed circuit board.

American national standard ANSI/TIA/EIA-422-B (formerly RS-422) and its international equivalent ITU-T Recommendation V.11 (also known as X.27), are technical standards that specify the "electrical characteristics of the balanced voltage digital interface circuit.
