Tag Connect Pogo-Pin Cables The Tag-Connect Pogo-Pin system is a simple and secure way of connecting debuggers, programmers and test equipment to your PCBs. It also offers a number of additional benefits:
Tag-Connect Saves CostThe Tag-Connect cable plugs directly into your printed circuit board, avoiding the need for a connector to be mounted on the board. This saves the material and assembly costs of a connector which can be a large cost saving for large batches of board. The footprint of the Tag-Connect Plug-Of-Nails connector is also smaller than most traditional connectors allowing the target board to be made smaller in many cases.
Tag-Connect has a Small FootprintThe small footprint of Tag-Connect means that it can often be placed closer to the JTAG or ISP connection of the target CPU.
Pogo PinsHigh-Reliability spring-loaded pins for a good electrical connection are rated for over 100,000 operations.
Reliable DesignThe Tag Connect connectors are designed for repetitive production use. Furthermore, by design, the connector can only be plugged in one way avoiding expensive mistakes.
Cable TypesThere are two Tag-Connect models which differ in the way in which they are secured to the PCB (Plug-In and Push-On). Electrically they are the same.
Plug-In CableThe Tag-Connect Plug-In cable is chosen where a semi-permanent connection is required to the target board. This is usually required duriung the development phase of a project when debugging application code.
Push-On CableThe Tag-Connect Push-On cable is chosen where a temporary connection is required to the target board. This is usually required when programming target memory during the production process.
Cable LengthWhen choosing a Tag-Connect cable you should always select the shortest cable length to ensure that fast signals are not loaded unduly. Standard Tag-Connect cables are kept short intentionally to ensure maximum signal integrity. |
