ID/Module: MCP41010 Digital Potentiometer

MCP41010 is a single-channel, 256-position digital potentiometer offered in an 8-pin PDIP or SOIC package. The wiper position varies linearly and is controlled via serial SPI interface. It consumes <1 µA during static operation. A software shutdown feature is provided that open circuits of all resistors for maximum power savings.

Board Connections

The Digital Potentiometer Board is linked to a development system using a 2x5 male connector on the development system and a 2x5 female connector on the additional board. Based on the development system used, appropriate switches on the DIP switch SW1 are set to the ON position. The screw terminals, CN2 and CN3, are used to connect the potentiometer to a controlled device.

Like a manual potentiometer, the digital potentiometer has three terminals with an end-to end resostance of 10Kohn and a "slider" terminal.
