Introduce accelerometer functionality to the device with the Accel Click Board. This accessory board features an ultra-low power ADXL345 3-axis digital accelerometer capable of high resolution measurement up to ??16 g. The high resolution (13-bit) allows measurement of inclination changes less than 1.0??. The module is packed with special sensing functions, which includes activity/inactivity sensing, tap sensing, free-fall sensing. Accel click is integrated with a 32-level first in, first out (FIFO) buffer, which can be used to store data to minimize host processor intervention. The board communicates using I2C or SPI interface with the target board microcontroller, which can be selected using the J1, J2 and J3 SMD jumpers. Accel click is designed to use a 3.3V power supply only. The green LED diode denotes the power supply status.

IC/Module: ADXL345 3-axis Accelerometer

ADXL345 is a small-sized, low power 3-axis accelerometer with user-selectable resolution, which can increase with g range, up to 13-bit resolution at ±16 g. The digital output data is accessible through either a SPI or I2C interface. Working with low power modes, it allows smart motion-based power management with threshold sensing and active acceleration measurement.

Numerous Sensing Functions

Accel click is provides with several special sensing features. The ADXL345 module is capable of detecting single/double taps as well as a free-fall detection of the device. It can also detect motion or no-motion activity of the device. If the acceleration on any axis exceeds a user-set level, it detects that too. These functions can be mapped to one of two interrupt output pins.

SMD Jumpers

The three jumper (J1, J2, J3) aboard Accel click are soldered in appropriate position to select the communication interface between SPI or I2C in order to communicate with the target board MCU. By default, these jumpers are soldered in I2C position. Also, in the I2C position, the user has an option to choose the alternate address using J4 jumper.
