FRAM Click Board
IC/Module: MB85RS256A 32768 x 8bit FRAM Memory Chip
MB85RS256A is a 256K bit FRAM LSI in a in a configuration of 32,768 words × 8 bits. Using SPI communication interface, this 256K FRAM Memory Chip uses the ferroelectric process and silicon gate CMOS technologies to form the non-volatile memory cells. This superior non-volatile FRAM offers fast access (like RAM) and is able to retain data without using a back-up battery.
Speed and High Endurance
FRAM offers 30x faster writes per second as compared to EEPROM or Flash memories. MB85RS256A does not take long time to write data unlike Flash memories or EEPROM, and takes no wait time. The non-volatile memory cells can be used for 10 billion read/write operations, which is a significant improvement over the number of read and write operations supported by Flash memory and EEPROM.
Additional Useful Pins
FRAM click board also includes two functional pins: hold (HOLD) and write protect (WP). The HOLD pin is used to interrupt serial I/O without de-selecting the chip. The WP (write protect) pin is used to control writing to a status register.
