They provide a standard way of adding evaluating new interface devices. MikroElektronika design and manufacture Click Boards™ for device manufacturers to offer a simple way of using their devices. They are compatible with all MikroE development boards, supporting a wide range of microcontroller types including ARM Cortex, AVR, PIC, PIC32, dsPIC, FT90x and 8051. MikroE models are also fully supported by MikroE complers and toolsets and example application code is created to enable you to start using your new Click Board™ straight away This can significantly reduce the learning curve normally associated with the introduction of new technology.

There are many good reasons to want to offer extendability to your own board designs:

Add color sensing functionality to your device with the mikroE Color Click Board. This compact accessory board employs TCS3471 color light-to-digital converter sensor, three NPN resistor-equipped transistors, as well as RGB LED diode. With a resolution up to 16 bits, the TCS3471 color light sensor provides red, green, blue, and clear light sensing (RGBC) that detects light intensity under a variety of lighting conditions and through a variety of attenuation materials. Color click uses the mikroBUS I2C lines (SDA and SCK) to communicate with the target microcontroller, and uses 3 digital output lines to drive RGB LED. Featuring a programmable interrupt function, it reduces micro-processor interrupt overhead. The board is designed to use a 3.3V power supply only.

The Comparator click from MikroElektronika is a voltage comparator on a click add-on board carrying LM2903 chip. This LM2903 IC features two independent voltage comparators, two pairs of screw terminals (additional two screw terminals are for GND connections), and two potentiometers.

It can be used with either single or dual power supply over a wide range of voltages. The screw terminals allow the user to connect separate inputs, while the two potentiometers, placed between the screw terminals and the IC, configure the set point voltage. Each input has its own interrupt pin on the socket, i.e., one through the mikroBUS INT pin, the other in place of the default mikroBUS AN pin. The Comparator click is designed to use either a 3.3V or a 5V power supply.

This accessory board incorporates an ultra-compact LSM303DLHC e-compass module that showcases low power consumption and high performance. The module has a 3D digital linear acceleration sensor and a 3D digital magnetic sensor. It also features 3 magnetic field channels and 3 acceleration channels. Compass click provides a 16-bit data output through I2C serial bus interface.

Designed to just plug directly into a mikroBUS socket after soldering the header pins, the module features two independent programmable interrupt generators meant for free-fall and motion detection. The IC interface transmits readings, which are processed, and used to determine the earth's magnetic north pole. Compass Click communicates with the target board MCU through the mikroBUS I2C (SDA, SCL), INT and RST lines.

The Counter Click is an accessory board designed to keep the DC motor shafts in check. Featuring the LS7366R quadrature counter, Counter click board uses the mikroBUS SPI interface (CSK, MISO, MOSI), plus enable (CNT EN) and interrupt (LFLAG or DFLAG) pins for communication with the target board microcontroller. The 32-bit quadrature counter is to be used with a rotary encoder to quantify the speed and direction of rotation of DC motor shafts. It enables the user to calculate the number of rotations of a shaft precise when things get blur to the naked human eye. The rotary encoder on a DC motor outputs ENCA and ENCB signals which are out of phase to each other. For decoding the signal, the other end of these wires is connected to the pinout on the top of the board for interfacing with incremental encoders. In addition to ENCA and ENB, the pinout aboard the Counter click also an ENCI pin, which is a programmable index. The board is designed to operate using either a 3.3V or 5V power supply.

Counter click is an ideal choice for applications that include measurement of the direction and RPM of DC motor shafts.

The mikroE DAC Click Board is an easy and compact accessory board featuring MCP4921, a 12-bit single-channel digital-to-analog converter. Designed to ensure high accuracy and low noise performance, the MCP4921 module is a suitable choice for industrial applications where calibration or compensation of signals, such as temperature, pressure, and humidity. It operates an optional 2x buffered output. DAC Click communicates with the target board microcontroller using the SPI interface. The board contains two analog output screw terminals: Vout and GND. These data are converted to the appropriate voltage level in the range between GND and REFERENCE (VCC or 4.096V), which is proportional to the received 12-bit number. The board is designed to operate a 3.3V power supply by default. The user can solder the PWR SEL zero-ohm SMD jumper to the 5V position when using with 5V systems.

With these features, DAC click is an ideal choice for applications like set point or offset trimming, precision selectable voltage reference, motor control feedback loop, digitally-controlled multiplier/divider, calibration of optical communication devices, and many more.

The DALI Click from mikroE is an accessory board intended to provide Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) to your design. This board enables the user to control your home/office lighting. DALI Click is equipped with two optocouplers, push button and screw terminals. For communication with the target board microcontroller, the board uses four mikroBUS lines (RST, CS, PWM and INT). DALI Click supports the use of either 3.3V or 5V power supply, selectable by an SMD jumper. A green LED indicates the presence of power supply. A yellow LED indicates RX activity.

DALI, a data protocol and transport mechanism, works as a true standard for professional digital lighting and lighting control. It allows easy integration of equipment from different vendors by offering a common platform while reducing installation costs.

This compact add-on board is equipped with a DRV8833RTY H-Bridge motor driver and a 74HC4053 multiplexer that allows the user to run the motor with only one PWM line from the mikroBUS socket. The DHT22 click board from mikroelektronika is one of the simplest temperature and relative humidity sensor click board that carries the AM2302 sensor module, also known as DHT22. Concealed inside a plastic mesh packaging, the AM2302 temperature/humidity sensor needs just a single wire to communicate with the target board microcontroller. For added convenience, DHT22 click is provided with two jumpers (zero ohm resistors). While one of them allows the user to choose between the mikroBUS pin to use (either CS or INT pin, which are SDA1 and SDA2 lines), the other onboard jumper allows choice between 3.3V and 5V power supplies. The sensor generates the temperature/humidity data in a 16-bit resolution. The generated decimal number is 10 times the actual measurement, i.e., 216 would be 21.6 degrees centigrade. A minimum of 2-second interval is required between two successive sensor readings to acquire the most accurate measurement.
