They provide a standard way of adding evaluating new interface devices. MikroElektronika design and manufacture Click Boards™ for device manufacturers to offer a simple way of using their devices. They are compatible with all MikroE development boards, supporting a wide range of microcontroller types including ARM Cortex, AVR, PIC, PIC32, dsPIC, FT90x and 8051. MikroE models are also fully supported by MikroE complers and toolsets and example application code is created to enable you to start using your new Click Board™ straight away This can significantly reduce the learning curve normally associated with the introduction of new technology.

Incorporate MikroBUS™ into Your Own Design

There are many good reasons to want to offer extendability to your own board designs:

The Illuminance Click Board from mikroE is a light sensor designed for better detection of ambient lighting over conventional light sensors that are too sensitive to infrared light. The board features an onboard TSL2561, a light-to-digital converter, which transforms light intensity to a digital signal output. The TSL2561 sensor uses two separate photodiodes: One is sensitive to the full-spectrum of light, the other to infrared light only. Using a formula, the user gets a sensor reading then approximates light response of the human eye. Illuminance click communicates with your target microcontroller via mikroBUS I2C lines: SCL (clock) and SDA (data). The zero-ohm J1 jumper allows the user to select between three available I2C address.

The Illuminance Click finds application in auto-brightness regulators on OLED or LCD displays, or any other kind of automatic ambient light regulation. It is designed to use a 3.3V power supply only.

The IR Distance Click Board represents a sensor that incorporates GP2Y0A60SZ0F distance measuring sensor unit. The sensor module is composed of an integrated PSD (position sensitive detector), an infrared LED and a signal processing circuit, measuring between 10 and 150 cm. The sensor remains uninfluenced by the reflectivity of the object such as environmental temperature and the operating duration. IR Distance click board outputs an analog voltage corresponding to the distance of the object (through the mikroBUS AN pin). Since this device outputs the voltage corresponding to the detection distance, it can also be used as a proximity sensor. IR Distance click use a 3.3V or a 5V power supply.

Whether the user is switching a channel on a TV or sending command to the air conditioner through a remote, it involves infrared transceivers. IrDA2 click is an add-on communication board that employs a TFDU4101 infrared transceiver module, compliant to the latest IrDA physical layer standard designed for high-speed infrared data communication. The board also features a MCP2120 infrared encoder/decoder connected with the 7.3728 MHz external crystal. Positioned between the UART and infrared (IR) optical transceiver, MCP2120 module performs the modulation and demodulation method in accordance with the IrDA standard. The board also features a detachable PCB sensor, which comprises of a 36-turn PCB coil and a 100pF 1% NPO capacitor. LDC1000 click also allows the user to experiment with different sensors by breaking off the original and soldering it to the onboard INA and INB pins.
