The Charger 2 Click Board™ is a LiPo/Li-Ion battery charger with the additional monitoring IC on-board. This Click Board™ as a whole, offers unprecedented battery charging and monitoring solution for 3.7V LiPo/Li-Ion batteries, with the capacity measurement/gas gauge function, for up to 7000 mAh. It provides measurement data via the I2C interface and two signalling LEDs on the Click Board™ itself. It features two dedicated ICs - one for charging the battery and one for monitoring its status. The charging function is performed by the STBC08, a standalone linear battery charger IC, while the monitoring of the critical battery parameters is done by the STC3100, a battery monitor IC with Coulomb counter/gas gauge.

The Charger 5 Click Board™ is designed to charge Lithium-Ion and Lithium-Polymer batteries. Besides the over-voltage and undervoltage protection, reverse discharge and over-temperature protection, automatic recharge and end of charge safety timer, the Click Board™ also introduces the fast charging feature to the line of Click Board™ charger products. Charger 5 Click Board™ uses a programmable digital potentiometer for adjusting the fast charging constant current, which can be set from 100 mA to 950 mA, via the SPI interface.

Charger 8 Click is an intelligent Li-Ion battery charger, system power manager, and a battery fuel gauge Click Board™. As a system power distributor, it can supply up to 2A to a connected load. By utilizing an externally connected power supply, it can charge a single-cell Li-Po/Li-Ion battery. A dedicated power management IC with the optimised smart power control allows very efficient management of the available power. An additional battery fuel gauge IC with proprietary battery aging prediction algorithm and time-to-empty / time-to-full estimation, offers the complete diagnostic related to the battery charging process.

Charger 8 Click is supported by a mikroSDK compliant library, which includes functions that simplify software development. This Click Board™ comes as a fully tested product, ready to be used on a system equipped with the mikroBUS socket.

Charger Click Board

The Charger Click Board™ is an add-on board that comes integrated with two chips, one is a battery charger controller, and the other one is a battery charge monitor. The smaller chip MCP73831 is a miniature single-cell, advanced linear charge management controller that is commonly used is space-conscious and budgeted applications. This fully integrated Li-ion, Li-polymer charge management controller works with a programmable charge current from 15 mA to 500 mA. The larger chip DS2438 is a smart battery monitor, commonly used in portable computers, cell phones, consumer electronics, handheld instrumentation, etc. The board also features an on-board battery connector to facilitate connection. Charger Click Board™ uses the unique 1-Wire interface, which requires only one port pin, for communication with the target microcontroller. The DS2438 has a unique silicon serial number, which allows several units to work on the same 1-Wire bus.

This permits multiple battery packs to be charged or used in the system simultaneously. It is designed to operate using a 5V power supply source.
