Enhance the design by connecting the large 240x128-pixel Graphic LCDs with Toshiba T6963C controller to the development system using the Serial GLCD 240x128 Adapter Board. It saves on the number of microcontroller pins needed for running the LCD using a MCP23S17 16-bit I/O expander provided on-board. This I/O expander is ideally suited for applications that demand higher throughput with 4-wire SPI clock speeds up to 10 MHz. Serial GLCD 240x128 Adapter Board features a port with an attached flat cable that has a 2x5 (IDC10) pin female header connector on the end. It is also equipped with an on-board potentiometer for controlling the display brightness.

Compatible with all MikroElektronika development boards, the Serial GLCD 240x128 Adapter Board supports operation using a 5V power supply source.

IC/Module: MCP23S17 16-bit Bidirectional I/O Port

MCP23S17 is a 16-bit remote bidirectional I/O port featuring SPI clock speeds up to 10 MHz for higher-throughput applications. It comprises of multiple 8-bit configuration registers for input, output and polarity selection. The 16-bit I/O port functionality consists of two 8-bit ports: PORTA and PORTB. It has two interrupt pins (INTA and INTB) that can be connected with their individual ports, or can be logically OR'ed together in order to activate the pins in case either port triggers an interrupt.

IC/Module: T6963C Toshiba Driver

Popularly used in small graphic modules, the T6963C LCD controller from Toshiba is capable of controlling displays with a resolution up to 240x128 or 320x64 pixels. It has an 8-bit parallel data bus and control lines that allow for easy interfacing with a number of MPUs. Its compact size and low power consumption make it an ideal choice for PDAs, MP3 players, mobile measurement equipment, etc. This driver also contains a 128-character Character-Generator ROM (CG-ROM) and has the capability to control up to 64K bytes of external display RAM (VRAM).
