The SKU-016-23 PCIe Cable Extender from Amfeltec has a 5GB/s interface and is designed to extend an ExpressCard connection and provide access from both sides of the PCI Express board. This extender comes with overcurrent protection and also serves as an access to the PCI Express bus JTAG signals. When the JTAG access is enabled, this extender works as a universal device that allows programming/loading of FPGA/CPLD during debugging and the verification PCI Express boards.

The Amfeltec SKU-016-23 PCIe Cable Extender is an extender that allows debugging and verification of x1 PCI express boards. Utilizing modern PCI express via Cable technology, this cable extender connects to the host computer with the help of a standard CAT6 data cable, a 10-pin flat control cable and one ExpressCard interface board.

Power Control

Bus switches on the backplane allows you to easily connect/disconnect the PCI express boards without shutting down the host system, allowing you to easily replace the plugged in devices. This reduces the verifying and testing time and also protects the host computer from possible damages. To prevent any induction of noise in the system, this extender allows you to keep the host computer away from the test area.

The device being tested can be powered by two ways. When powered internally, the flat cable supplies the power from the host computer; for external power supply, a unit of +12V/4A power voltage is required to fulfill the power needs of PCI express connection.

Current and Voltage Protection

By monitoring and limiting the voltage and current values, this cable extender protects the host computer and the UTT (Unit-Under-Test) from any kind of electrical damages.


The PCIe Cable Extender comes with additional support tabs that provide mechanical stabilization to the add-in PCI express boards. This mechanical stabilization of PCI express boards allows you to rotate the UTT during the debugging process.
