WiFi 3 Click Board
The WiFi 3 Click Board from MikroE is a powerful communication add-on board with the ES8266 module that provides the easiest way to connect your devices to the internet. This WiFi module makes an ideal addition to a click board collection if the user wants to venture into IoT. WiFi3 click features a combination of ESP8266 module with a system on chip.
The module further includes an integrated TCP/IP stack and supports WiFi Direct (p2p). The System on Chip (SoC) offers powerful on-board processing and storage capabilities for a WiFi module and offloads all networking functions from the microcontroller. Other than the standard MikroBUS socket, WiFi3 click includes 6 additional GPIO pins for user to connect and control external electronics. It also features a PCB trace antenna that works for the 2400-2483.5 MHz frequency band. WiFi3 click is designed to use a 3.3V power supply only.

ESP8266 is a highly integrated chip designed to meet the users' need of an internet connected world. This self-contained WiFi networking solution can be used with sensors and other application specific devices through its GPIOs thanks to its onboard processing and storage capabilities. It allows to either host the application or to offload all WiFi networking functions from another application processor. .
PCB Trace Antenna
WiFi3 click board uses a PCB antenna that is designed for frequency band ranging from 2400-2483.5 MHz. One of the major reasons to use a PCB antenna is the reduced overall cost of the module. .
Communication with MCU
The WiFi3 click board communicates with the target board MCU via mikroBUS RX, TX, AN (PWD) and RST (G15) lines. These correspond to CH_PD and GPIO15 pins on the module. When you connect board to the mikroBUS socket, set the PWD pin to VCC and the G15 pin to GND from within the code.
